| A breif overview of my life as a singer... | |||||

My mother tells me I've been singing since before I could speak. I have to imagine it is because she had been singing to me since before I was born. My first performance was with her, at age four. We sang a duet at the church talent show; The Garden Song: "Inch by inch, row by row. Gonna make this garden grow. All you need is a rake and a hoe and a peice of fertile ground". And I supose that this is, in many ways, the basis for my life as a singer. I was in our church youth choir from age six. In first grade I started at a private school with a big focus on music. In 3rd grade, when we moved to the country, my parents quickly found a church to join so that I could be part of a youth program. I was the youngest member of this church choir. Then we joined a different church, and I was the youngest member of their choir. When that wasn't enough music, my folks began driving me into Port Townsend each week to sing with the Community Chorus. I was the youngest singer by 30 years. I was 12. We only had music at school one hour each week. I still wanted to sing more - so my folks arranged for me to begin voice lessons with director Marylou Montgomery. Some major life events occured. I continued to sing at church and school and to take lessons with Marylou. Jounior high and High School choirs were a big highlight of school for me. I was a founding memeber of my junior high's jazz choir, and performed as often as I could. At 14, I was selected to represent my highschool at the Washington All-State Choir, and was selected from All-State to represent Washington in the US Collegiate Choir's European Tour. I was the youngest member of both of these choirs as well. At 15, I started college, and began formal classical voice lessons. I continued as a vocal performance major. I took as many lessons as I could where ever I was, overlapping regular lessons with workshops by professional vocalists and visiting instructors, studying with over a dozen teachers in 6 years. I was finally singing enough and my toolbox was quickly filling with techniques and experiences. I WILL CONTINUE TO ADD TO THIS PAGE, AS TIME PERMITS ME TO CONTINUE WRITTING! STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES!
